Collin College buys land in Celina to build a campus
Celina is going to become a college town.
At the May 26 Collin County Community College District Board of Trustees regular meeting the board approved a contract of sale for the purchase of approximately 75 acres in Celina. Some time in the next three to four years the district will build a college campus on the property.
The future campus location is just east of Preston Road on the south side of County Road 88 and directly behind the Carter Ranch subdivision. The property is being purchased from the George White Family Ltd. Partnership for about $35,000 per acre.
“The college will hold it for future development. It has great accessibility,” said vice chair of the board of trustees and Celina resident Brenda Willard Goodell.
She said there is no plan yet for any particular program or a design for the campus. It will be at least three years or more before ground is broken for the first building. It will be a full-size comprehensive campus.
