Construction on BearsBrook Golf Club near Prosper is “postponed indefinitely due to the economic climate,” said Scott Erwin, executive vice president of Frisco-based LandPlan Development. It had been hoped construction would begin in the fall.
The course, the heart of a planned 1,300-acre residential and commercial development near the intersection of U.S. Highway 380 and Custer Road in Collin County, was to have been the first Jack Nicklaus design in the Dallas area. He had completed a preliminary routing. Nicklaus was involved in the renovation of Dallas Athletic Club’s two courses but has not designed a course from scratch in North Texas.
