When do we apply for a Homestead Tax Exemption?

Tax Exemption are determined by the status of the occupant on January 1 of each tax year. To apply for a Homestead Exemption, a homeowner must be occupying the property as of January 1st of the tax year in which the exemption is granted.You Appraisal District will automatically send a form to all new property owners around the end of January. You will have till April 30th of that same year to file this exemption. For additional information contact your Appraisal District.
